Rebellion Lager Release Announcement!
12 May 2017
Awaited Rebellion Lager is Out Next Friday!
We are excited to announce that our new lager, simply named
Rebellion Lager, will be released in Marlow on Friday the 19th May. It will be unveiled
simultaneously at three local pubs and on The Rebellion Bar at Tom
Kerridge's Marlow event, Pub in the Park.
The first pubs to take the new beer will be The Royal Oak, The
Coach and The Hand and Flowers, with more pubs taking delivery in
the following weeks. The full list of pubs will appear on our
website, so those looking to enjoy a pint should look online and on
our social media accounts for more information.
A Rebellion lager has been in the pipeline for several years and
now, after an expansion to our brewing capacity in 2016, we are
able to add it to our popular beer range. After the first trial
brew back in April 2016, our brewers have been developing the exact
colour, flavour and quality that we were after. Work by the
production team has included trial brews, blind tastings, focus
panels and market research, we think it has been worth it and we're
delighted with the final product.
Ed Bates, our head Brewer describes
the lager as "An authentic lager brewed using the finest specialist
German malt and yeast. The key to its delicate clean taste is a
cold fermentation and a long, slow maturation which allows the
subtle flavours to slowly develop. Continental hops add a light
floral element and gentle bitterness, helping to create an
extremely crisp, refreshing and drinkable character".
This will be the first keg lager brewed by Rebellion, now in our
24th year since brewing the first beer in 1993.
Some long serving fans of the brewery may remember that we have
previously brewed a Pilsner which was part of our bottled range,
but that was retired 10 years ago because of capacity issues.
To begin with we'll only be filling the lager into kegs destined
for local pubs and bars. Customers of our brewery shop should
expect to see it on sale in bottles in the Autumn, look out for
more information later in the year.
Alongside the new beer, we are also releasing a beautiful new
branded lager glass. Tall and straight, our glass is designed to
show off the beer's colour, clarity and bubbly condition. Slightly
wider at the opening, the glass will help head retention and allow
the aroma to fill the nose, allowing drinkers to fully appreciate
We have also commissioned new bar fonts from which your glass of
fresh, delicious lager will be served from. These smart, black
columns will be fitted to bars who are serving the beer. Keep your
eyes peeled for these to pop up locally over the next few
Later in the year we hope to further increase our bottled beer
range with "White", a wheat beer, and "Black", a porter style
If you try it, please let us know what you think, feedback is
always very important.
We hope you enjoy it.
