Rebellion's 2019 Year Summary
18 December 2019
2019 has been another fantastic year for the Rebellion Brewery.
Here's a short recap of what's happened.
The brewhouse has been busy, brewing 429 times this year,
producing 4,273,295 pints! The brewing team work very hard to
ensure the beer they produce is consistent, great quality and of
course, very tasty. A big thankyou to all of our brewers and the
production team.
The 2019
Aviator Monthly Beer Range
The 2019 series was the "Aviator Range", and yet again our
brewing team have done an amazing job in creating a range our beers
that was varied and interesting. We hope you've enjoyed spotting
the pump clip artwork on bars, depicting our fictional Aviator,
Roger, in various tricky situations. Some fantastic beers in there,
Nose Dive, Sonic Boom and Wingman were particularly popular.
Brewery Development
We have been improving the brewery for several years. It's been
a big project but we're nearly there. Many of the areas are now
finished, including the brewhouse, the racking (barrel filling) and
kegging (keg filling) areas.
At the end of October 2019 our new bottling line was installed
and commissioned, allowing us to bottle smaller batches of beer.
Small batch bottling offers the potential to trial all sorts of
different beer styles, so watch this space...
Open
Weekend
The highlight of the brewery's year for many of you, and us, was
the Charity Open Weekend in June.
For those new to us, this is a biennial free beer weekend held
at the brewery for a local hospital charity, Scannappeal. It is
free to enter with free beer and free music all weekend with
donations taken on the door.
Yet again, the weather was kind and the atmosphere created by
the 4500 people who attended was incredible. More incredible
was the amount raised, a whopping £65,000. We would again like to
offer a huge thankyou to all those who came along and gave so
generously. The next weekend will be in 2021, dates will be
released sometime next year...see you there!
Open Nights
We've made many improvements to our Public and Members' Night
this year and hope you have enjoyed the beer, music and food.
We now have music at every night and hope you enjoy the
atmosphere it creates. We've added more bars and we now have our
lager available at locations on site. The Barbecue has been
fantastic again this year, with the monthly special adding
something a little bit different to the delicious favourites on the
main menu.
To all those who have enjoyed a pint or two, we hope you had a
great time and we thank you all for coming. We will continue to
improve the nights and feedback is always welcome.
Mini Barrel Improvements
Over the last few years we have done extensive trials and
testing on the 22 pint mini barrel to improve their quality and
consistency for you. We hope this has had a positive impact on your
experience when using the barrels.
Awards
Our beers have had success in various competitions this
year.
- Gold for Lager in the SIBA Independent Beer Awards, Midlands
region.
- National Bronze award for Lager at SIBA's Beer X
Exhibition.
- Lager received silver at the World Beer Awards for a UK
Lager.
- Lager received bronze in the International Beer Challenge.
- Black was the winner in the UK Oatmeal Stout category at the
World Beer Awards.
- White won gold in the Midlands regional SIBA competition within
the Speciality Light Beer bottle/can competition.
- 24 Carat won gold in the Midlands regional SIBA competition
within the Premium Pale Ale in the bottle/can competition.
Coming in 2020!
Roger's Sporting Series is the 2020 range of monthly beers.
Continuing with Roger, our budding Aviator from the 2019 beer
range, we now see him involved in various sporting situations. Look
out for beers such as Knockout, Freefall and Trick Shot. If the
quality and variety of this year are anything to go by, we should
all be in for some very tasty beers.
We will be introducing a new 1 litre swing top bottle which will
be re-usable and returnable. Currently 26% of all our shop beer is
in our 22 pint re-usable mini barrels, the addition of the 1 litre
re-usable bottles will significantly increase this figure. Look for
the bottle around March time.
Developments to our packaging area will be completed. This will
include automatic filling and cleaning lines being installed so all
our small pack shop beer will be filled automatically, helping
improve our beer's quality and consistency.
We will launch our first "Craft" beer, 24 Carat, in the trade.
24 Carat will also now be available in bottle in the shop all
year.
We are so grateful for the continued support you show us and our
beer. We will continue to develop all aspects of the Brewery, the
Shop and Open Nights to make the experience as good as possible for
you.
We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
From all at the Rebellion Brewery.
